The city’s new City Hall is getting some layers. The precast outer pieces are being put in place and glass windows are going in too. It looks like, in this photo, that crews are up to the 13th floor. Just a few more to go I think until this one tops out. Could it happen before the end of the year? We’ll see.

In July 2025, the ribbon was cut on the new bus station at Raleigh Union Station. There’s a rumor, or hope, that it gets a better name in the future but at least the IRL stuff is very nice. In August, bus service started running out of the station and just this week, the signature piece of art was installed. All that’s left is for a blog post on this website to cap off this project (kidding) so let’s get into it with some photos to compliment the video from GoTriangle, embedded above. (YouTube link)

Are you sad that Cardinal Bikeshare is no more? Of course, you’re not. Like me, I’m not sure anyone is sad to see it go as it was more trouble than it was worth and those bikes were just falling apart. The former docked bikeshare system has already been removed and we now have dockless bicycles from Lime and Spin. It’s a shame as I was super excited when the system rolled out back in 2018 but I’ve since moved on.

This is an exciting one and all of us (well, one of us) at DTRaleigh HQ are crossing all our fingers and praying that this Summer’s announcement for The Depot takes place. LODEN Properties have announced plans for a mixed-use development alongside the historic Depot site, flipping that surface parking lot into places for people instead of cars. (minus the parking deck of course) It’s sure to bring new life and vibrancy to the area and the renderings show real promise.

It’s been a long time since we’ve visited The Creamery but, just like that, work was just announced to start and indeed it has. Demolition work is already underway as Turnbridge Equities kicks off the first phase of its major redevelopment of the historic Pine State Creamery site. Highline Glenwood, a 37-story residential tower, will become Raleigh’s tallest residential building sitting at the corner of North Street and Glenwood Avenue.

I really like this view from the greenway when exiting Dix Park and approaching Rockway Raleigh, the soon to open apartments along Saunders Street. You get that “park in a city” feel when wandering certain parts of Dix and then you turn a corner and here are some homes and places to eat and rest. Lake Wheeler and Saunders Street will probably become the commercial gateway to Dix Park with all that’s going on there.

We haven’t checked in on the project called Oldham & Worth since April and in just a few months, it has really popped up. The units facing the platform at Raleigh Union Station are topping out and you can see it in the photo above. All of these West End projects are giving that area a vibrant feel and I hope that translates to equally vibrant street life in the near future.

If you haven’t been by recently, the North Carolina Education campus is rocking two cranes at the moment. It’s possible, as spotted by the Community, that a third is on the way. This block-sized project has had all its work take place below street-level, most likely building underground parking, but it looks like some of that has reached sidewalk heights and here in the Fall, the project may begin to rise.
