The hotels are coming! In the span of about three months, the upcoming Element by Westin hotel on Blount Street went from a single floor to almost topping out. In addition to other hotel openings and construction, this project sits nicely near the edge of downtown but has a great location. I imagine at this pace, we’ll see it open late next year.

I’m biased here because smaller hotels like this, located on the periphery of where I’m visiting, are exactly what I look for when I travel. Close to the locals yet easy access to the main things I’m looking for and beyond. I’ll be talking a lot more about hotels here over the next few months as downtown seems to be setting itself up for a new wave of hospitality offerings, something I’m optimistic about for the 2030s.
