Corner of Wilmington and Davie Streets, future site of The Edison Apartments. The two-story brick buildings have been removed and the site is cleared for new construction.
Here’s a photo of the same corner in 2008.

New to downtown this year, every Wednesday from 4-7pm City Market hosts the Raleigh City Farmer’s Market. I stopped by yesterday and saw Boulted Bread, Raleigh City Farm, Color Fields, and others set up under the awnings of the historic building.
Great to see more markets and weekly events like these selling food in and around downtown.

The Skyhouse construction site towers over the buildings of Wilmington Street. Hopefully by now, everyone has noticed that this thing is being built quite quickly as it broke ground this past December.
The plans are to have new residents moving in by this December.

The Boylan Pearce building on Fayetteville Street is getting a makeover. Out front, the renovation includes a new awning and a good cleaning of the front facade. You’ll notice the white paint has been stripped off giving it a darker, bolder look.
The 200 block of Fayetteville Street continues to make the case for being the heart of downtown Raleigh. For a comparison, here is a photo from July, 2012.
Hopefully soon, news comes out about possible tenants for the Boylan Pearce Building.

The L is under construction and will bring residential units to the corner of McDowell and Davie Streets. It’s kind of fun to watch it fill and be done after so many years.
Six years ago, we watched the parking deck rise and heard about a stalled The L office building.
But seven years ago, the land was being cleared for this parking deck and The L while the convention center was under construction.
