Some of the construction fencing is down at the capitol and the southern walkway is now open for use. The only real change here is the addition of the two ramps on either side of the center walkway for easier access. This came at the expense of a large tree on the grounds and has not been replaced. Now is a perfect opportunity to plant something new.

Assembly of the four City Plaza light towers is underway. From the city’s press release:
The 50-foot light towers are the centerpiece art work for City Plaza, that also serve a practical application. Created by renowned Greensboro artist Jim Gallucci, the light towers will allow for varying levels of lights for a myriad of uses in the City’s celebration plaza.
The tower design integrates LED lights, stainless steel oak leaves and a hidden area at the base of the towers that contain electrical panels to be used for various plaza events. The towers also offer a granite bumper seat to accommodate visitors to the plaza in need of a break.

All cleaned up and cleared out. Now, we wait. The future Justice Center is planned for this site and might take awhile because of the down economy.

I have not yet seen a show at the Burning Coal Theatre but this year, I hope to change that. The 2009/2010 season is posted on their website and I have created a Google Calendar in order for me, and anyone interested, to keep track of it. Copy one of the links below and import them into your Google Calendar or compatible calendar software to add the shows posted on their website.
[Update: The Google Calendar has been taken down.]
