The new North Carolina State Bar headquarters building has been completed on the corner of Edenton and Blount Streets.
What was just a surface parking lot a few years ago is now a building with classical architecture. The state bar moves out from their offices on Fayetteville Street to this new building a few blocks away. You can see a before photo of the site at this 2011 blog post when ground was broken.

SECU Tower on Salisbury Street
The SECU Tower on Salisbury Street looks very close to being finished. Walking by, you can see the lobby needs just a little more work before it’s done. This is my favorite modern building in downtown Raleigh.
The St. Mary’s Square apartments will be partially opening to their first residents this weekend. The entire building should be completed and ready to move-in by mid-August.
The first real bike corral in the state of North Carolina was installed last week on the corner of Hargett and Wilmington Street.
New signage and paint job at the Wilmington Street entrance to the Moore Square Bus Station. These are just a few of several aesthetic improvements that are being made to this part of the station in an effort to increase safety and raise the level of service.
This is not part of the future Moore Square Bus Station redesign which could see a complete overhaul of the station in the future.

The latest skyline shot from the Boylan Bridge. The soon to open Wake County Justice Center is adding some nice light with its fins along the upper crown of the building.

So the Justice Center doesn’t look like it’s adding much to the skyline from this angle. In the 2009 photo, the space looks already filled with the county courthouse. However, you can still see the Lawyer’s building that once stood on Salisbury Street and now the Justice Center occupies that space today.
