In case you haven’t seen it, the facade upgrade on One Hanover Square is finished. The columns from the previous build were removed and the outdoor space feels much larger. It gives City Plaza a modern feel as it more matches the renovations that took place to the plaza, especially the light towers.

A construction trailer is set up across the street from the future Residence Inn site at approximately 600 South Salisbury Street. Could we start seeing site clearing soon to make way for the new hotel?
Hat tip to the RalCon commenters for pointing this out.

The Link Apartments on the corner of West and Jones Street is nearing completion. At the leasing office, I ran into someone that told me they could start having residents move in as early as this month but there are some floors that aren’t finished yet.
We’ll check back in when the sidewalks are done and the place is 100%. Until then, jump to their website for more information.

I hadn’t really thought much about what was going on at 114 Fayetteville Street until recently. I walked by and noticed that the second and third floors have been removed. In the last ten years this building has been tinkered with so much but produced nothing.
At one point, the facade was white with a different window layout. In 2006, the building was empty.
Then sometime in 2007, scaffolding went up, the bricks were painted red (or replaced?) and new windows went in.
Which produced this look. Still, no occupants.
That didn’t seem to work and now 114 Fayetteville is a single-story building. What will happen next?
If you jump all the way back to about 1926, 114 Fayetteville Street was different back then too. At the time, an Eckerd’s Drug Store, in addition to other shops, occupied the bottom store.

Fencing has gone up around the future Raleigh Union Station. Perhaps things will start soon.
Hat tip to Richard. Thanks!

The view of The Edison Apartments at the corner of Wilmington and Davie Streets. Here’s the same view almost a year ago. The building is topped out and it looks like residents might be moving in around the end of the year.

The south tower of Charter Square is having a grand opening today. From the press release:
The latest addition to the Raleigh skyline, Charter Square, officially opens this week. Located at the south end of Fayetteville Street, one of the most prominent addresses in Wake County, Charter Square is welcoming its new tenants to the building with an official grand opening celebration.
Eleven stories of stunning Class-A office designed for Platinum LEED certification, Charter Square towers above a sophisticated mix of premier retail, restaurants and metropolitan nightlife in the heart of a downtown district shining with a vibrancy.
There are still some construction fencing and barrels along Wilmington and Lenoir Streets as part of the final cleanup. The Lenoir Street closing notice isn’t on the city’s website anymore so hopefully the street will be open again soon too.
