Above is the view from the rooftop of Loading Dock Raleigh’s newest location on Lenoir Street, in the Prince Hall district. The coworking space has been up for a few months now and has done a great job of renovating a space on Lenoir.
Check them out sometime this year. Loading Dock Prince Hall
Trophy Brewing has moved right-next door into their new space along Morgan Street. Still attached to the old, it looks like the former space is undergoing some renovation work as well.
With a net zero energy goal, these guys have installed solar panels and a green roof so far. Hope they get there and surpass it!
The expansion of the Lumsden Bros. Building on West Hargett is looking very nice lately and it caught my eye on a cool weekday evening. I think it is looking great and is even more appealing than the renderings we saw early on.
The exterior looks about complete and I’m happy to have that sidewalk back as well.
Recently, FastMed Urgent Care announced plans to move its offices, including over 100 workers, from Clayton to this building. They’ll be taking 25,000 square feet, pretty much the majority of the space, and will be providing an urgent care center on the ground-floor. They want to open in Fall 2020.
It’s time to check in on the Origin Hotel that was going up at the end of Glenwood Avenue, at Morgan Street. The exterior looks almost finished and the sidewalks are pretty much open now. Seems the hotel is close to hosting visitors.
While their website is up, the reservations button doesn’t work just yet. It’s been nice to see the upgraded streetlights here at Glenwood and Morgan and with One Glenwood across the street finished, there’s a whole new feel to the southern end of Glenwood Avenue.
I’m sharing a video this week as it contains some of the best renderings and future views of the upcoming Freedom Park, a public space dedicated to African Americans of North Carolina.
Planned for the corner of Lane and Wilmington Streets, between the NC Legislature and the NC Governor’s Mansion, the park will contain inspirational quotes from African Americans from North Carolina. There will also be a 48-foot sculpture in the park.
The new park should break ground in December 2019.
West Street near Glenwood South is unreal these days. The Smoky Hollow development is transforming this area. The pace is fantastic to watch!
The building along Peace (not in the photo) will open next year. This is the building with the Publix grocery store and apartments. I imagine opening of these new buildings might be in the year after, 2021.
The surface parking lot at 301 Hillsborough has now been closed. That’s because construction will be starting on Raleigh Crossing, the new building planned for this site. This is the same one we’ve seen renderings of throughout the year.
There was a ground-breaking ceremony last week which included folks from Pendo, the Raleigh-based company that will primarily occupy the office space of Raleigh Crossing.
We’ve been following this site for years, practically since the beginning of the blog so I’m pretty excited to see something rise out of the ground at this space. Plan to watch it rise throughout 2020!
Steel is rising up on Harrington Street for the office tower component of Smoky Hollow. It seems like it was only weeks ago that the site was flat. At this rate, the nine-story tower will be topped out sometime in the Fall.
It’s such a dramatic difference compared to how the area was built up before. Surface parking in front of one-story office buildings lined Harrington Street for years. Traffic was nonexistent.
Now, with a little imagination, you can envision the street with a lot more life and active uses. Harrington has been connected to Peace Street and there will be a lot more residential and office space in the area.
There’s a lot to look forward to with Smoky Hollow!
