Demolition equipment is on site at the former Raleigh Police Department Headquarters building. The building at the corner of McDowell and Hargett Streets has been empty for years and is finally coming down. The future should see a new office tower for city employees, one that brings them together across multiple properties.
While the entire block is being re-envisioned as part of the Civic Campus Master Plan, the former RPD building will be replaced with the East Civic Tower. The new 17-story building aims to modernize office space, enhance security, and deliver a larger, modern council chamber. This will also move employees across five different sites into a single location.
Read more here and let’s hope construction starts here in 2024.
