These apartments over on Person Street, called The Acorn, are getting some final touches. It really looks like we’ll see these new apartments open later this year. In addition, this is the first phase of the project and a new hotel should be built on the same property facing Blount Street. The hotel is planned to be a TownePlace Suites By Marriott branded hotel.

One minor thing to add is that on this particular morning that I snapped this photo, the workers were doing some siding work. Small bits of material were kind of “flurrying” off the building and the light was just right to give Person Street a light snowy feel. I should have taken more photos but the material was collecting on the street and probably washed away with our recent rains. How bad could this be?

With the recent news of foam floating off another downtown hotel project, I’m curious to know if this is a new problem or something that’s been taking place for awhile. If anyone has any thoughts, please do reach out.
