This weekend Battistella’s, the new Cajun and creole restaurant in City Market, was having a private party with quite a few patrons. According to the hostess I talked to on Sunday, they plan to open tomorrow.
The place looked great and big points to the new restaurant for throwing some tables out on the sidewalk. Bar hours are until 2am so if it proves popular Blount and Martin Street will see some late night activity.

Best of luck to the owners!!! Hopefully, their commitment to downtown will be rewarded and their investment will prove worthy of undertaking. There is simply a lot of competition these days and the times are tough for most people, but I surely hope Battistella’s will survive without simply taking away from other downtown businesses. I will definitely give it a try, but I will also be looking for reviews :)
Thanks for the photo, Leo. It looks really cool!!!
[…] Battistella’s is opening this week in City Market and Mantra is opening too! […]
Just got home from Battistella’s and I already cannot wait to go back! Everything was delicious – food, service, decor, atmosphere. We had a great table overlooking the Martin/Blount corner, lots of entertainment. I had the blackened catfish and never knew catfish could be THAT good. There is lots of competition, but this is one of those places that I feel will be consistently good every time you go (feel the same about 18 Seaboard). Go, and enjoy.
