Photo of Red Hat Amphitheater construction.

South Street may be closed but it’s still there as crews work to move dirt around the future site of the new Red Hat Amphitheater. There’s a nice new mountain on the north side of “South Street” and a retaining wall alongside the train tracks on the south side. It’s not too exciting to look at but I’ll keep checking in on the amphitheater construction.

We’ll be watching the site come together as the new amphitheater won’t be ready for the 2026 concert season. That means it should almost certainly be good to go in the Spring of 2027 in order to host shows as we do each year. I guess that means that the old amphitheater should be disassembled and demolished for the Raleigh Convention Center expansion in late 2026.
