The upcoming apartments at The Weld are really showing their presence on the southern side of downtown Raleigh, shown in the photo above. We may be witnessing the creation of an entirely new district with this project and nearby activity.

The area, for decades, had a mix of single-family homes and some small businesses within the nearby warehouses. I imagine with Dix Park and this large infusion of residents, we’ll probably get conveniences and restaurants nearby to transition the area from a neighborhood to a destination district. I feel like this will especially be true if all that structured parking becomes a go-to spot for Dix Park visitors.
