North Carolina Museum of History construction, April 2026

The North Carolina Museum of History is almost stripped down to its core. The site is very active these days with crews basically just removing stuff. I imagine practically everything will go other than the concrete base structure. A tower crane has even been put up along the Wilmington Street side to assist in the process.

We’re still very early in the process with completion taking place some time in 2028. You can take another look at the future renderings to see what kind of a dramatic change is taking place. In the mean time, this is actually a good time to consider a visit to some of the other regional history museums that the state runs around North Carolina.
