New articulated buses are in circulation on the GoRaleigh bus system. You can see, or ride one yourself, on the number 1 Capital Boulevard route. This route has seen a steady increase in ridership over the past few years that in addition to the larger buses, the route is also running at 10-minute frequencies. It’s great to see this increase in demand be met with higher capacity service!
You may recall that the “bendy” buses were brought in to service the New Bern Bus Rapid Transit (BRT). However, due to delays in construction, GoRaleigh found itself with new “accordion” buses mostly sitting idle. With some creative problem-solving, these “caterpillars” were repurposed (and rebranded from orange to red) and put into service. This is a match made in “snake” heaven.
