Kind of following up on a recent post about the upcoming apartment project, called The Gramercy, here is a photo of the corner of Glenwood Avenue and North Street. The site has been cleared of the former buildings and is ready to start construction.

I know they are obviously planning some retail/restaurant space along Glenwood (I’m crossing my fingers for more retail) – but what about North st? It’s a loooooong building they have planned, and certainly they can’t just be planning for retail ONLY on Glenwood, right? Of course Glenwood is the popular, busy street RIGHT NOW, but I think it’d be smart for them to plan for the future (when Glenwood is eventually oversaturated), and have space all down North st for future retail and restaurant.
Yeah, I love all this development in Raleigh. What I REALLY like is how, after just signing a year’s lease until next August, my community decided to sell out to the “Let’s Build More Ugly, Tall Condos” Consortium and I found a note hanging on my door last Monday stating, “We thank you for being such a GREAT tenant. Now, please vacate by December 18th! Happy Holidays! :)” (OK, I paraphrased a bit, but the end result is my landlord’s – 60 days to get so we can bulldoze your home).
Good times, good times. Can’t wait to see what needless bistro goes up with the condos!!
Rick – which community?
So much bitter
Yeah, Rick, what rental community is being bulldozed? I haven’t heard about that.
From the site plan, it only shows retail on Glenwood. North Street is where the leasing office and fitness center for the apartments are located.
community being bulldozed is probably Brookview Apts…On Sasser St. off Wake Forest road. Behind Salvation Army center across from Mordecai
