CF, while I wasn't a big fan of the GJ building, I think that we make a mistake demolishing it - even bigger mistake was to lose the Lawyers Building. I do not know the justification by the County leaders, but I feel that they could have done better taking down the parking deck and building a new one and the main building on the Western side of the block, leaving some room between the two demolished buildings for a future infill. Or make that a small plaza for now.

Anyway, you are correct. Looking at that open space for long would have been hard to digest.

I'm one of those who liked the Garland Jones building. Seeing this building standing there as opposed to a big ugly whole in the ground will make the loss easier to bear.

Yes, I agree. I can't wait until this project is done. If the County leaders were not willing/able to save two buildings of decent urban form, they'd better replace that open space with something of value. While nothing extraordinary, I am sure this building will look nice when built, plus it will stand a little taller than the surrounding buildings, which makes me a little happy :)
