Timothy, you need to keep in mind that this project was "designed" by all those who participated in the meetings. I didn't, so I can't say what could have been done better. Just for the record, I totally agree with you. This project had massive potential to be larger in size and scope, but based on what I read and heard, the usual suspects brought up "heights" and "traffic" as the typical excuses for keeping this project to a small - some dare to say "human" - scale. As if an 8-story building along Wilmington Str would overwhelm the people living two blocks down the road.

Anyway, I still think it will make a positive impact. I truly hope that the developer scales up a little for the parcels between Blount and Wilmington Streets. I really wanted to see a few 4-5 story brownstones - usually found in Boston and New York - to add some sort of diversity. It's nice to address the affordability issue, but add something impressive to the mix and all of the sudden more people will feel attracted to live there.

Sorry, this project is very underwhelming! The retail piece is pathetic (should be all along Peace and Blount - who will be the first person to cross Peace, going to Seaboard and get hurt by oncoming traffic - at least put a overhead walkway). The cottages do not even blend with the historic homes and the area. A shame, this property could have been utilized for a much bigger and better project (this is a huge disappointment - I have been on the property a few times - awful looking retail)
