Sosta Flirts With Weekend Hours

Add another option to your weekend lunch list. Sosta Café has been staying open on Saturdays for the past couple weeks. This gave me the opportunity to give it a try and I really enjoyed it. They have a good list of sandwiches, soups, salads, and a respectable list of coffee drinks. There are also a couple tables outside and they have wifi for anyone that needs to get work done.

Sosta is located on the bottom floor of Progress Energy’s building on Davie St.

Sosta is a nice place, and I am glad they are considering weekend hours, but I have to say this: they need to make sure their inventory is good. Four out of five times I could not find a dessert I liked, even though it was listed on the menu. This is not just a Sosta problem, but an issue most downtown cafes are dealing with, except for Starbucks.

Quite frankly, I wish that Hereghty’s would either relocate, or open another location to downtown. Or, something along the same lines comes to DT Raleigh. A perfect example of true urban cafe is Old Europe Cafe, in DT Asheville. To me, that is a real destination and I would drive from North Raleigh, just to enjoy good, fresh desserts. Maybe Sosta’s management would consider a little transformation before considering weekend hours.

Best of luck to Sosta. They have been loyal to downtown – thus far – and I appreciate their investment. I really hope they do booming business!!!
