You Know You Are A DT Raleigh Geek When……….

…your google homepage looks like that. It is my way to consolidate all the various webcams that are presently set up downtown. If you are at all interested in checking out some live webcams of downtown construction or views, this list is for you.
WRAL TV Tower Cam
Most of the time, this one is pointed straight at downtown and gets a great night shot. I only have the link to the raw image and cannot find it on their website. View it!
RBC Plaza Parking Deck
Perched up across the street from RBC Plaza, it is now pointed at the parking deck that is being built. View it!
RBC Plaza
This webcam is up on top of Progress Energy’s building looking at the tower under construction. It is a very cool interactive cam that lets you zoom and move around. View it!
Raleigh Convention Center
This link has many webcams with multiple views of the Convention Center, Marriot Hotel, and a cool view up Fayetteville St. View it!
222 Glenwood
There is a small webcam pointing at the current construction site of 222 that actually refreshes pretty quickly. View it!
I miss any?
Comments
Ditto, except mine is filled with blogs (like RalCon), Technician News, WRAL, NewsObserver, and more
How exactly did you do that. When I try, it just has the webcams boxes with a little icon in it… but no view? I love this site by the way. I just found it a few days ago.
Travis,
I hope this makes sense but here is what I did. There are many webcam gadgets you add to your homepage. The one I used was called ‘My Webcam’. (http://tinyurl.com/32oszg)Add it to your homepage and edit the settings.
I’m going to guess that your problem is with the link, you need to link to an image, jpg, gif, whatever. For example, the RBC deck webcam link in the above post takes you to the page to view it, but adding that link will not get you the raw image. You need to find the image link (in this case it is http://74.251.192.19/netcam.jpg). As long as you add the jpg image links to the webcam gadgets in google homepage, it should work.
Get back at me when you try it.
Perfect Info Leo, Thanks! That worked for me. I couldn’t get the actual RBC plaza but all the others worked out for me. I appreciate the help!

Great to know these cams exist, thanks for the links. But what exactly do you watch them for? Rain? Birds? Clowns? Tell me more.
