What's wrong with Peace Street? West of Glenwood it's a nice, quiet extension of the Cameron Village area, and East it's just part of the downtown area. Glenwood South can stick to Glenwood South.

Great overview!

It's amazing how much this area has transformed over the last decade.

With North Carolina having twice the national average of job growth, it's really no surprise that downtown Raleigh is seeing a boomlet of sorts.

I just found your site and I am a loyal fan of the Pourch and the Bassment!!!! Also a fan of the Lucky B's. I guess I am one of the undesireables dave (moron) talks of. It did seem there are some faces from other bars there working, which I like. But I thought the bassment was rocking and the energy was awesome!!! The music constantly kept me guessing and there were some hotties shakin' their ass. Have fun at the globe. No bars have soul in Raleigh.

Globe is a great bunch of guys, from Bistro 607. I hope they do well. It is very small, and not really a late night destination. Can't speak for the food, but I expect it to be great. The Pourch and Bassment are the two newest soul-less bars in Raleigh. They don't offer great drinks, beer, or wine, let alone atmosphere. They are just kind of there to take the crowd from Lucky B's (around the corner, lucky 13's, or whatever else)that no one else really wants.
If you can't wait to see how Bud Light tastes out of Raleigh's newest cooler, this is the place to go.

Oh, PS: I heard Catch 22 is a NICE addition to the DT retail scene with trendy stuff that doesn't break the bank!

I don't mind shelling out big bucks for a great pair of jeans, but "wardrobing" (check out Marshal Cohen on this topic) is the current concept of pairing investment-priced classic style with affordable trend pieces. I can't wait to check out Catch 22 for myself and see if it really fits the bill.
